Every day we have chooses or decisions that we have to make. How we make those decisions can be detrimental to the outcome of those chooses. Every choose or decision has a consequence whether it's good or bad. So therefore we need to really think and pray before we choose to do or say something that can potentially cause harm to ourselves and or others.
The words that come out of our mouth can bring death or life to the hearer. We need to be slow to speak and quick to listen ( James 1:19-20 ). By choosing our words wisely we can be the mouth piece of the Lord.
I remember in my younger days that I had very little control of the words that flew out of my mouth. I was very outspoken and blunt. I did just the opposite of what the word of God says to do. I was quick to speak and slow to listen. It did not matter to me if the things that I said hurt somebody, I was going to speak my mind and they would just have to deal with it. I used my words to harm people rather than to encourage and uplift people. I did not realize the damage that I was doing to them. I have hurt a lot of people in my life with my words, and the things that I have said can never be taken back. Thank the Lord He offers forgiveness for the things I've done wrong in my life. All I can do now is pray that the Lord heal the people that I have damaged with my words and ask them to forgive me.
You know that old saying the devil made me do it. Well there is some truth to that saying. We have a chose on who we listen to. I like to explain it like this. We have an angle or God on one shoulder and the devil on the other shoulder both influencing us on what to say, how to act; or react, what to do, where we should go or not go; what we should be watching or listening to. Now its up to us to choose the right things and we all know right from wrong.
So how do we determine which one is influencing us. Well first of all we need to check it with the word of God. Are the things we are saying or doing backed up by the word of God or is it a contradiction of the word of God. We need to know the characteristics of God in order to judge correctly.
Some of the characteristics of God that he shares with us are Holiness ( 1 Peter 1:15-16 ) Wisdom ( Isaiah 28:29, Colossians 2:2-3 ) Truthfulness ( Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 45:19 ) Love ( Psalms 33:5, Psalms 89:2 ) Faithfulness ( Deuteronomy 7:9 ) Righteousness ( Psalms 89:14, 1 Corinthians 1:30 ) Grace ( Nehemiah 9:17, 2 Timothy 1:9 )
Gods voice will still you ( Be still and know that I am God ) Reassures you, leads you, enlightens you, forgives you, calms you, encourages you, and comforts you.
Satan's voice will rush you, frighten you, push you, confuse you, condemns you, stresses you, discourages you, and worries you. They are total opposites of one another this is why you need to know the word of God and how to discern between the two voices.
Who is influencing your chooses and decisions? It's totally up to you to decide on how you choose to live your life and the legacy that you will leave when you are gone. What will people think about you when you are no longer here on this earth.
My prayer for you today is that you would strive to be a better person. Always remembering that every day is a new beginning and that you can choose to do thing the same way that you have in the past or you can make the changes in your life to become a person that leaves a great legacy.
Sincerely:
Tina
